Papillon Creations - Love with a Capital L
Stitched one-over-one on 25ct white evenweave with Vikki Clayton regular silk floss:
Dragon Blood (large "L"), Garnet and Slate
Started July 12, 2006. Completed December 25, 2009.
The original design ended below "Love never fails" but I added another band, our names and wedding date, the motifs on either side of our names and extended the border. I'm really happy to be finished this project! Since the photos don't really give you an idea of the scale, the finished stitched area is 9.5" by 21.5". I think the most time was spent on counting out the bottom portion that I added with our names since I needed to extend the border and find the best spacing for the names. Hopefully I'll have this framed in time for our third anniversary this coming July.
**I would like to note some errata in this pattern: the centre portion of the chart from the "It always protects..." portion to the bottom is not centered in the area between the border on either side. To centre it:
- shift the portion (including the vases) containing "It always protects..." 2 stitches to the left (this will give 4 stitches from the left border and 5 stitches from the right border)
- shift the band above "Love never fails" 2 stitches to the left (this will give 9 stitches from the left and right borders)
- shift "Love never fails" 4 stitches to the left (this will give 16 stitches from the left and right borders)
(Unfortunately, I found this out too late; I would have had to completely frog the entire centre portion from "It always protects" to the bottom of the design, including the portion with our names and I think I'll just have to live with it as it is. I thought I would mention it here in case anyone else hasn't discovered this errata yet.)

Hi Christine,
Your sampler is simply gorgeous! You should be very proud of your efforts. I did it a few years ago and am planning on doing it again, so happened by your blog while googling examples. Congratulations on a beautiful finish.
