Joyful Summer progress

It has been anything but spring-like in my part of the world, nevermind summer-like!  This week we got almost 30 cm (12 in) of snow in one day and, combined with the 20-30 cm of snow we got last week, it looks more like the middle of January than the middle of March out there.  Thankfully, I have the cheerful colours of CCN's Joyful Summer to remind me that spring and summer are (eventually) coming!

I still need to work on my photography skills for white fabric!  It's always so challenging to not have the background turn out with a blue, grey or yellow tint.

Thanks for all of your lovely compliments on Spring Violets!  I really appreciate them.  :-)

Spring Violets is finished!

I really shouldn't have left the outer border of Spring Violets until the very end.  Such long lines of stitching left me seriously unmotivated to pick it up!  However, I did finally persevere and bite the bullet, and now it's done!

Country Cottage Needleworks - Spring Violets
Stitched two-over-one on 32ct Cream Belfast linen using recommended fibres
Started January 26, 2013.  Completed March 10, 2013.

I think the project turned out well, but I was a bit disappointed because the actual floss colours aren't as vibrant and deep as they appear in the model photo.  Still, it's always nice to get through a design I've had in my stash for a while and I do think the design is quite pretty!

So what is one to do when she's finished a project?  Why, start another one of course!  Here's my start on CCN's Joyful Summer, which I have been dying to stitch for ages!  I'm stitching it on 28ct white Lugana using the recommended fibres, and this one is certainly fulfilling my desires for a bright and colourful project!

Like a broken record...

There hasn't been much in the way of variety on ye olde blog lately, but that's because I've been focusing on Spring Violets.  I took another progress photo today to share with you:

The centre portion is definitely getting close to being finished, and then I'll just have the border to do.  I'm really trying to stick with this one, especially since the fabric I'm going to use for CCN's Joyful Summer arrived a week or so ago, and I really want to finally stitch that design.

It's a long weekend here, so I'm enjoying my last day of freedom!  I'm going to go and enjoy the opportunity to stitch in daylight.  Even though it's cloudy outside today, it's a treat to stitch during the day.  Thanks for stopping by!

More Spring Violets

The violets continue to grow and bloom here!  Well, the stitched violets anyway; despite the mild weather we've had, there is still a lot of snow outside, so no chance of violets blooming out there yet!  I've made more progress on CCN's Spring Violets:

The colours are reading differently in this photo than the last progress photo since I had to use a different camera.  The floss colours are reasonably accurate here, although the background fabric might not be quite accurate.  The design is working up fairly quickly, though I will still have the relatively large border to do once I finish the centre portion.  The more I work on this piece, the more I realize that the floss colours I actually have are quite different than what is depicted in the chart photo.  The colours in the chart photo seem deeper and richer than the actual floss colours I'm working with.  I'll see how the whole piece comes together once it's finished.

My fabric order for a couple other CCN/LHN designs arrived this week, so I must resist temptation to start anything new before I finish Spring Violets!

Time for some hockey and stitching.  Thanks for stopping by!
