A quick update

Just a quick post to say I added a few more pictures of the interior of the house to my Webshots album (link to the right if you're ever looking for it in the future).

House photos

Stacey asked what we have growing in our garden. In the large garden (the raised portion of the yard) we have corn, radishes (they're done now), beets, lettuce, a couple of spinach plants (not many seeds came up), carrots (the first planting was too deep but our latest row seems to be coming up well), potatoes, peas, garlic and a cucumber plant. We also have a few beans coming up because the when we pulled the old bean plants down, some seeds self-sowed. In the small garden next to the crab apple tree we have asparagus (from the previous owner), 8 tomato plants, two hot pepper plants, chives and some leaf lettuce that self-sowed.

Thanks for the lovely comments!

House progress

I finally had a chance to download a few photographs of the house taken over the past couple of months. Most of them are of the outside of the house so I'll do my best to take a few more photos of the interior over the next couple of days.

Faith Ann asked if we're close to being done with our renos...we are making progress but we still have a lot to do! The subfloor for the tile on the main level has been laid and all drywall work on the main level is done. We've painted the ceiling on most of the main level and we're currently working on priming and painting the walls before we lay the tile. Then we'll be able to install the kitchen cabinets (which arrived weeks early!).

Upstairs the plumbing is done in the two bathrooms and the new bathtub and shower base are installed. The drywall is up and ready for mudding and taping, followed by painting the ceilings and walls. Then we'll lay the tile in both bathrooms. I also have to paint the ceilings and walls in the bedrooms.

We still have a lot to do but we're working hard to get it done. I'm so ready to move in there and I know we can't until we reach a certain point. I wish I could stop working and just work on the house but that's not a possibility, so we'll just continue to plug along on evenings and weekends.

Hello there

Well, it's been so long since I've posted that I don't know where to start! How about a "Hi, how are you?" (That is if I have any readers left, lol!)

Life has been busy, to say the least. Work is keeping me really busy and pretty much anytime I'm not working, Dan and I are at the house working on our renos. Yes, I've taken pictures. No, I haven't posted any; they're still trapped in my camera because I'm often too tired to upload them! Sorry for that and I will try to get a few up. We're taking a 5-day weekend this upcoming weekend so though we'll be doing lots of house work, I hope I can squeeze in a few minutes to update my Webshots album.

I want you all to know that I am still reading your blogs, even if my comments are very few and far between. It's been lovely to see all of the projects you've been working on. I've managed to get a few stitches in here and there and I've also made a few birthday cards (part of my continuing "Big Stinkin' Deal" cards for my friends' 30th birthdays).

Karin tagged me for a meme so I'll end with that and a note that I hope to post more regularly but I apologize if there are many quiet stretches inbetween.

Where were you 10 years ago? Let's see...June of 1998. I was here (in Edmonton), working at my summer job as a cashier at Canadian Tire between my 2nd and 3rd year of university.

Thanks

I thought that I'd better post fairly soon after my last post. I don't really want to go into a lot of detail but I haven't been feeling all that confident lately and my post on Friday was just some frustration boiling to the surface. I don't want to be negative on my blog but I just needed to get it out and I really appreciate all the replies I got. They did help, as did the hugs I got from Dan when he got home.

I did do my best not to let it spoil the rest of the weekend. Yesterday morning I went to pilates and in the afternoon we did a lot of planting in the garden!! We planted corn, lettuce, spinach, two kinds of carrots, beets, radishes, two kinds of potatoes, peas, dill, garlic and some asparagus. There's actually already mature asparagus plants in our garden (they're a perennial) and we've got a few spears coming up! Late in the afternoon our kitchen cabinets arrived so I called my dad and brother to ask them to help Dan move them into the house (they're heavy!!!). It was getting late so I still have to go back and have a good look to make sure everything is there and in good condition.

Today I did some cleaning around the house and then spent the afternoon with my mom. We didn't really do anything in particular but it was nice to be able to just hang out with her for a few hours because that doesn't happen very often these days. We need more hours in a day...there's not enough time to spend quality time with friends and family. Everything is too rushed.

I do have some new pictures from the house, plus pictures of some cards and stitching so I hope I can get those up this week. Thanks again for stopping by!
